Hard neck lump + small lump in front of ear – red flag ENT next week

Hi all,

I've been reading the pre-diagnosis threads here for a few days and thought I'd post my own to see if anyone has been through something similar.

I've had a hard lump on the left side of my neck (anterior cervical chain) for 6+ months. It's a bit bigger than a pea. I can feel the top of it but can't get my fingers underneath or pinch it. For about 6 weeks I've also had a small pea-sized lump just in front of my left ear.

No night sweats, weight loss or fevers, and otherwise I feel well. My sister had Hodgkin lymphoma at 23/24 (she's in remission), and my mum had a lump removed from almost exactly the same spot near her ear years ago, though I don't know yet what it was.

My GP took bloods yesterday and referred me red flag to ENT. I've got the appointment next week.

Has anyone had a similar combination of a neck node and a lump near the ear? What did ENT do, and what did it turn out to be? Any tips for the appointment or for coping with the wait would be really appreciated.

Thanks for reading x

Yes Ive been to ENT for just this scenario, I had an FNA Fine Needle Aspiration where a thin needle is put into your neck for a biopsy of the suspected lump. Plus an ultrasound scan. Then an MRI. Mine was positive for SCC cancer and needed surgery and radiotherapy. The waiting is the worst bit, keep busy.
