Bowel Cancer Symptoms - So So Scared

Hello,

Im 37 female and i have been having alot of blood in the toilet bowl after bowel movements. I also have a cramping sensation in my tummy alot of the time and am always tired. My recent FIT test came back at 74 and i am not scheduled to have a colonoscopy next Friday. I am CONVINCED that during the colonoscopy they are going to tell me they have found bowel cancer. I know alot of other things can cause blood but the amount was unbelievable. I have been spiralling about this for weeks. Im not sleeping, im anxious all of the time. Its affecting everything. My biggest fear is any cancer in general and this is almost too much for me at the moment. Does any one have any reassurance that they can offer? Im currently sat here sobbing x

  • Hello Me_123, and welcome to the community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been having a lot of blood in the toilet bowl after bowel movements, in addition to the cramps and fatigue. It is completely understandable that you are feeling so scared, but you did exactly the right thing by getting your symptoms investigated.

I’m sure there are many people here who remember exactly how terrifying that lead-up to a colonoscopy feels, and I hope they will pop in shortly to offer some comfort and reassurance. Please know that you don't have to carry this heavy worry all by yourself.

If you feel it would help to talk things through out loud with someone who understands the medical side, please do give our team of nurses a call. They are incredibly kind and are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

I also want to wish you the very best of luck for tomorrow. We are all thinking of you, and if you feel up to it, we would love to hear how you get on whenever you are ready to update us.

    All the best,
