Scan

Good morning...looking for some words of comfort and advice.

I had a hip MRI done a week ago for hip pain. Report says I have various torn tendons, and generalised inflammation. At the bottom of the report the Radiologist, in his coclusion, added that there was an incidental finding of a uterine mass 6x5cms...but added likely fibroid.

I have an appointment under the 2ww pathway for trans abdominal and vaginal ultrascans this Friday. I am a 67year old woman, on longterm HRT and no symptoms of bleeding, pain, weightloss...nothing.

Has anyone here had this sort of experience/ journey themselves. Im super anxious, and am fit and well. Im sure this sounds trivial, as I know a lot of you are on very difficult journeys. Thankyou in advance

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat,  Lausop.

I’m sorry to hear that your recent hip scan has brought this unexpected worry.

It is completely understandable that finding out about a uterine mass has caused you deep anxiety, even when you are otherwise feeling fit and well.

Regarding your upcoming appointment this Friday, as I am not medically trained, I cannot offer a clinical opinion on the scan findings. However, it is very reassuring to hear that the radiologist noted it is likely a fibroid, which are incredibly common, non-cancerous growths

I hope other members who have experienced similar incidental findings or undergone transvaginal and abdominal ultrasounds will reply soon to share their own experiences and comfort.

Please do let us know how you get on this Friday if you feel comfortable doing so. This community is a safe, warm space, and you do not have to go through this anxious waiting period alone. If you would find it helpful to speak with a professional in the meantime, our wonderful team of nurses is available for a confidential chat. You can call them free on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

We are all thinking of you and are just a few clicks away whenever you need to vent or talk.

    Best wishes,
