Possible Lymphoma worry?

Just over a month ago I noticed a hard lump, maybe about the size of a bracelet bead, behind my left ear. Since then it has grown to the size of a blueberry.

I have also found a small hard lump on the left side of the base of my skull, under my chin and on each side of my groin. I only noticed these in the last week or so but I dont know how long they've been there. The one on the base of my skull has doubled in size since I found it, and so has the one on the right side of my groin.

I have been trying to avoid asking doctor google what is wrong with me and I will have blood taken for testing in the coming days.

I am just very worried and I'm wondering if anyone who has gone through a similar situation has any advice?

Thanks,

C

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Cs0199101,

I can see from your post that you are worried about the symptoms you have.

When you’re worried that you may have cancer, it's natural to want answers and it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. Although we can't be sure what's wrong, I do hope your blood tests go ok and that someone at your clinic might be able to answer your questions. Once they have the results of your tests, they will talk you through any next steps required. Please try not to worry for the meantime, as it'll only make you feel worse.

    All the best to you,

  • I went to the gp expecting to get blood tested today however I am booked in to get it taken in 15 days.

We spoke about the lumps growing and new ones appearing, occasional night sweats, chills, and me losing 7kg in 5 months without changing my lifestyle.

I am just so frustrated. The gp said he is concerned about me, but I now have to wait 15 days to get a blood test.

Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks,

    C

  • Hello Cs0199101

I'm sorry to hear about how your appointment went today and that, although you've been given an appointment for a blood test, it's not for another 15 days. It's understandable that you're feeling frustrated.

Is the wait for the test due to a lack of available appointments at your surgery? If so you could try ringing and asking if they have any cancellations or if they can contact you if a sooner appointment becomes available. You could also check if the GP asked for the blood tests to be taken within a certain time frame or marked them as needed urgently on your notes. If you're not happy with the response you get from the surgery, do get in touch with the practice manager for some clarification.

Hopefully you will get some answers within the next few weeks. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
