Benign fibroadenoma

Hi.

So went for results of three core biopsy today .

The consultant said it's " Good news" it's a benign fibroadenoma.

I thought brilliant, can put this behind me now.

However the MDT has said I need a vacuum biopsy to remove it and check further tissue.

It's only 10mm and classed as M3 on the Ultrasound ( UK).

I'm back to being absolutely petrified again

Has Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks .

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about a breast lump and that, despite already attending breast clinic, you're now being recalled for further tests. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

An M3 or U3 result from a mammogram or ultrasound means that the cause of the lump is uncertain but probably benign. This, combined with the Consultant's experience and expertise, is likely why you were told it was a fibroadenoma. While I can understand that the recall and prospect of a further biopsy has left you feeling worried, it's good to hear that the MDT want to make absolutely sure that there is nothing that needs further treatment.

It does mean, though, that you face some further worry over the coming weeks. Try to keep hold of the fact that the tests you've had to date haven't given any immediate cause for concern. Hopefully you will have some final answers and reassurance soon and you will be able to truly put this behind you and move on.

In the meantime, if it would help to chat things through with one of our team of nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

Do keep in touch bex2607 and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
