It all started on 23rd June when I was in Greece and came down with really bad tonsillitis. I had white spots on my tonsils and felt pretty rough, so I was given 10 days of amoxicillin. I started feeling a lot better after a couple of days and thought it had cleared up.

On 18th July it came back again, with the same white spots and symptoms. I was given another 10-day course of amoxicillin and, again, started feeling better after a couple of days.

Then around 1st/2nd August it came back for a third time. This time I was given clarithromycin 500mg twice a day for 10 days, but it didn't seem to work as well and I never really felt like I'd properly recovered afterwards.

I went to see an ENT specialist afterwards. They looked at my throat and didn't see anything concerning, and they thought the ongoing throat symptoms were down to acid reflux rather than an ongoing tonsil infection.

Since then I've been struggling with fatigue and feeling generally sluggish, along with swollen and sore glands in my neck, mainly under my jaw on both sides. My throat has also felt dry and irritated at times, and I've had some nausea and occasional sweating at night.

I've had several blood tests, including a full blood count, inflammatory markers and tests for EBV/glandular fever. The results have generally been reassuring, although I'm still trying to get a clear answer about what caused all this.

The symptoms seem to come and go. Last week the glands and sluggishness had eased off, but they've started coming back again. I've also lost about half a stone since all this started, mainly because I've been eating less due to feeling nauseous or not having much appetite.

It's been going on for months now, and I'm just trying to get to the bottom of what's causing it. I don't know whether it was glandular fever, another infection or something else, but the sore neck glands and fatigue are the main things I'm still dealing with.

I'm getting very concerned that it is cancer, I was almost sure it was EBV but my bloods show that it isnt the case. I genuinely dont know what to do and I'm getting very scared. My dr said if my glands dont go down in the next few weeks to go back but I want to know what type if thing I'm dealing with. Being totally honest my surgery haven't been very forthcoming with all this.
