Breast pain

Hi, i have had breast pain in one breast about 6 weeks now comes and goes.. i have had 3 breast checks off of 2 doctors. One said all ok apart from dense breasts other said perimenopause. No lumps. Changes ect.. had an routine mammogram 2 weeks ago as it was 3 years since my last one.. obviously i am quite worried about the pain. Thanks

  • Hi Doglover- sadly I am no expert & am not a medic but my understanding from speaking to others is that breast cancer doesn’t usually necessarily include pain.  The fact that you have been seen by 2 doctors who have diagnosed reasons other than cancer for your condition & that you have not noticed any lumps/changes etc  must also be seen in a positive light.  You said you had a mammogram 2 weeks ago- are you still awaiting the results from this?  If there are no concerns from the mammogram it sounds like you need further help from the GP around what may be causing your intermittent pain & whether they can give you something to help with that? Take care x

  • Hi Doglover,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about your breast pain and know how worrying this can be. You have done the right thing to get it checked out. Chrissypaul is right that pain doesn't usually accompany breast cancer, although it can occasionally happen. It is reassuring to hear that the doctors you've seen haven't noticed anything of concern. I'm not sure whether or not you've had the results of your recent mammogram yet, but hope that this is clear too.

If this pain continues, you may need to discuss it further with your GP. I do hope that they can eventually solve this problem for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
