Fluffy endometrium

Hi everyone,

My periods have been all over the place for years (I'm 47) I had a scan in April and it said I had a thickened endometrium.

My GP referred me to gyne on a 2 week wait. I was asked to have a hysteroscopy but I was scared and they sent me for an MRI (I got scared in that too and had a panic attack

I went back and had the hysteroscopy performed, a biopsy taken and marina coil fitted.

The Dr said on looking she could see the fluffy endometrium but everything else appeared normal.

I'm only 3 weeks in and she said results can take up to six weeks. Nothing like waiting in limbo eh?

Problem is now is the bleeding, after the procedure I bled for a week and it was light, the next week I had what I can only describe as the worse period of my life, for 7 days I bled really heavily it felt non stop with really bad cramps. Every time I went for a wee I had to clean all the toilet and myself it was terrible.

It stopped for a couple of day but now it's back! Its now light to medium flow with mild cramps.

URGH why is my womb being such a ***

  • Hi Missyell,

You did well to pluck up the courage to have the hysteroscopy despite your initial fears and the biopsy should hopefully shed some light on what is going on. It's a long time to have to wait and as you said, there's nothing worse than this feeling of being in limbo and unfortunately there is nothing you can do other than wait and wait and it can feel endless at times. I thought I would share with you these helpful tips on how to cope while waiting for important news which will give you some good strategies during this difficult limbo phase.

Poor you, this bleeding sounds awful to have to deal with - given that it stopped and came back, it might be worth mentioning it to your doctor just to make sure it is to be expected and if there is anything you noticed that has changed about the bleeding, make sure you update your doctor with all the details.

I hope that you find out more soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. Other members of our community may have been in a similar place before and been told they had a fluffy endometrium (it almost sounds poetic!) and I hope that they will be along soon to share their story with you as it helps to talk to others who may have experienced similar symptoms.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out to be fine and that you get some clarity on all this very soon.
