Cervical growth found during smear test. Now been referred on two week pathway

Hi

i have just joined and have had an overdue smear test, the Dr was called in and I have been referred on the two week cancer pathway. He said there is a growth on my cervix. I have had pain and bleeding for a few weeks but I have a huge fibroid.

i was wondering if it could be the fibroid causing this? I am 54 and wasn’t worried until they asked if I had someone with me. Thanks in advance.

    I'm sorry to hear that a recent visit to the doctor has resulted in a referral to the hospital on a cancer pathway. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about things. 

    The symptoms that you've mentioned could indeed be caused by the large fibroid, but it's good to hear that the GP has referred you to get this growth checked. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment, and the specialist will be able to give you some answers and reassurance when you see them. 

    We know that for many people, this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face, and it's natural to have questions. If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses while you're waiting for your appointment, you're most welcome to give them a call.     Thank you, I went to A&E today as was in so much pain, the Dr wanted to give IV paracetamol but some prescribing protocol meant it couldn’t happen. I appreciate you replying, hopefully I will get some results next week.
