I am sorry to hear about your lump. Most cancerous lumps are not painful. Did you have your period about 3-4 weeks ago? The breasts can sometimes change at that time of month, but usually return to normal after that. You have done the right thing by getting it investigated. Certain types of breast cancer do not always show up on mammogram or ultrasound. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and experienced this. 

The good news is that there are other scans, such as CT and MRI, which can detect the lump. I am glad to hear that you have had a biopsy taken. The wait for results is always a worrying time. Try to keep yourself busy to distract yourself from the wait. It is also a good idea to steer clear of Google. Much of the information there is poorly researched, out of date and aimed at the more spectacular cases. This won't give you any answers and will only serve to scare you further.

I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found.
