Fibroids post menopause

Hi there

I'm 57 I have a large fibroid 14cmx 6cm which seems to be growing! I have endometrial thickening 6 whatever it is. I last had a period 5yrs ago. I have a coil which has now been in 10yrs!! I had a previous fibroid that grew on the upper side of my fallopian tube which was removed while I was 19weeks pregnant 24yrs ago which became strangulated causing sepsis it was a junior Dr who saved our lives back then.

  1. Last few weeks I've been in excruciating pain with my back and niggles in my abdomen. Am not on HRT never have been. On Monday I could no longer cope and ended up in hospital. I seem to be a bit of a head scratched because the fibroid is increasing inside I have been randomly bleeding every now and then. Am now home no further forward to wait now for MRI hysteroscopy and other tests. Am going back to work on Monday because my head is wrecked!! Am absolutely terrified and would love some reassurance or other storys to say someone is or been through the same thing as myself please thank you

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

    I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing this pain and the difficulties getting answers - I can understand the uncertainty and waiting causing some worries. Hopefully the return to work will help a little with distraction.

    I also hope it's not long to wait for your next appointment(s) and any results to follow.

    My reply here will give your post a little boost, so a few more people should see it. We're always here for support and hopefully it has helped a little to write things down.

    Hi Nikkiroocat, Just sending best wishes and support, and hoping you now have a date for your next round of testing. I’m not sure how reassuring I can be, but I am going through something similar. I’m on my second ‘urgent referral’ this month - and it’s exhausting, emotionally and physically! 

    I’m 53, 18 months post-menopausal, and consulted my doctor re random bleeding about a month ago. She wasn’t that bothered (“why did you feel you needed to see a gp about this?”), despite my being in the middle of a scare for breast cancer recurrence (which was thankfully clear). Referred me for an ultrasound, which has just come back with multiple fibroids and endometrial thickening, plus a lesion on my right kidney, so I’ve now been urgently referred to the gynae unit. And for a CT scan on my kidney.

    I’m at the weepy stage. 

    Trying to hold onto the fact that I’ve got through horrible stuff before, one foot in front of the other, and all that. But SO want to just curl up in a ball.

    Hi Autumn thanks for replying yeah I know all about the breast scares have had two lumps both benign thankfully!!

    Yes it is terrifying but you've got this girl. I haven't really cried that part of me ihas been turned off but I know whatever the results will be is when the flood gates will open. In meantime time I've been keeping busy with work which unfortunately is now pretty much impossible because am sore all the time!! Get really sharp pains or excruciating back pain!! If I rest am ok but anything strenuous is just horrific!! 

    I have a date for my Hysteroscopy which is on 3 weeks time 11 weeeks from the red flag referral!! I know already it's going to be uncomfortable and painful but will know what's happening after that.
