An MRI and CT scan has I am told shown strong signs of a tumour in my brain
should I be worried that the team of specialists who meet weekly have decided not to do a biopsy but have arranged a meeting with an oncologist

HI Jomforest1950,
A very warm welcome to the forum.
I am so sorry to hear of your position. Once the results of any tests and/or biopsies are back, your consultant will discuss the findings with all of the medical specialists, who are likely to be involved in your care. This is routine procedure, before the patient is told of any results. This is called a multidisciplinary team meeting or MTD for short. This is an opportunity for all of these medical professionals to discuss the best way forward with your care.
Instead of being worried, this should be reassuring that your outcome is being dealt with by an entire care team of experts and not, unilaterally by your consultant. When you have an appointment with the oncologist, make sure to ask why they have decided not to carry out a biopsy, as there is sure to be a good reason for this.
My mum fought primary breast cancer for 12 years, before it travelled to her brain. I know how difficult it is to accept some of the decisions made by the medical professionals, but try to place your faith in your care team. They know what they are doing and will give you valid reasons for any decisions made. Don't be afraid to ask any questions about your condition - no question is too small or trivial. We used to find it useful to draw up a list of questions before any appointment and this helped us to know more about Mum's condition and why certain procedures were or were not being carried out.
I do hope that you get to see the Oncologist soon and that they can reassure you that the correct decision has been taken. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
