Endometrial biopsy - been told results will take 6 - 8 weeks. Why is it taking so long?

Had my biopsy under general anaesthetic the cramping just won’t stop, but why is the wait time now 6-8 weeks for the results, how am I meant to put it to the back of my mind for that long. They did say yes it used to take 1-2 weeks but since Covid and a massive back log, have to be patient and understanding.

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Blackcountrylady, although I'm sorry about how long you may have to wait for your results.

Unfortunately this does seem to happen quite a lot and many of our members have posted about this, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

I hope this guide we have on how to cope with waiting for news will help you over the next couple of months but if at any point you'd like to speak to one of our cancer nurses about this, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I'm not sure from your post when you had your biopsy but if the cramping isn't getting any better, do make sure you get some advice from the team that carried out the biopsy or your GP so they can make sure everything is o.k.

In the meantime, we're sending you all our support and will have our fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
