I am in my late twenties and recently went to the gp to get a mole looked at. I noticed it has changed over the last few years and got bigger and not symetrical. I have been referred to a dermatologist to get it looked at as she explained that she didn't know just by looking at it. I am so scared for the worst - I lost my Mum to melanoma skin cancer 6 years ago so this has really hit a nerve with me. The family history is also what prompted the GP to send me for a referral. I am so careful with being not being in the sun use suncreen etc. so this is my worst fear having to get it checked. To make things worse I am just about to start a new job so feel like it is such bad timing. I know I have done the right thing by getting it checked early but it is just the worst timing as I am meant to be starting a new job soon. I would be grateful of any advice anyone can give to ease my nerves. Thank you
