Possible return of cancer.

My sister was diagnosed in 2004 with endometrial cancer. Had hysterectomy and removal of ovaries with radiotherapy and chemo. 16 years later it returned to her lung with some in her diaghragm. Chemo and operation to remove tumours. Since then 6 years on,  all check ups have been OK. Then this week sent to A&E. My sister has chronic back pain, pain wasn't settling  so given her history GP sent her there. No cancer in lower back but a deposit has been seen in her upper back. Now I'm really worried it has come back. Has anyone experienced this? If it has come back, are there any positive stories of people surviving and living with bone mets. I'm so anxious, trying to stay positive but the anxiety and doubt is taking it's toil.

  • Hello Mish24

I'm very sorry to hear that following a recent trip to A&E by your sister, there are some concerns regarding a deposit that was seen on her upper back. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about this news.

We know that for many people, this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult to deal with, and I hope that your sister has an appointment date with the specialists.

We have a number of members here who are living with bone mets from various primary cancers and hopefully some of them will stop by to share their experiences with you. In the meantime, if it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully your sister will have some answers and clarity on the situation soon. Keep in touch and let us know how she gets on Mish24. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
