Around 6 weeks ago I noticed a tiny lump in my left bicep. I haven't had any injuries to the area, or injections recently, or insect bites. It is firm, round/oval, does not move, and feels as though it is in the muscle, not the skin. It is invisible to the naked eye, but you can feel it if you run your fingers down my arm. After a couple of weeks I realised it had grown and booked a GP appointment. My husband has been to our GP plenty of times for lumps that the GP has confidently diagnosed as lipomas (but has always referred for ultrasound for reassurance, and has always been spot on with his assessment) so that is what I was expecting him to say about the lump in my arm. What actually happened was he had a really thorough feel of it, and then said 'well, that's not a lipoma'. He put through a referral to the hospital for an ultrasound straight away, but that was 2 weeks ago, and I only got my appointment through yesterday. The hospital can't see me until 25th September, which is another 4 weeks away. In the last week, my arm has started aching from around the site of the lump, occasionally making my lower arm feel weak, and I'm sometimes experiencing a shooting pain either up into my neck/shoulder, or down into my arm. So that makes me think whatever it is has grown and is now touching a nerve.

A couple of questions:

1. Is it worth me calling my GP to tell him my symptoms have changed to see if he can push the hospital for an earlier appointment?

2. For anyone else who has played this horrifying game of cyst or sarcoma, what did yours turn out to be, and did you share any of the same symptoms?

3. What should I expect at my ultrasound?

Thank you for anyone who reads or offers any advice or understanding. There is a strong history of cancer in my family, but no one has had this one as far as I'm aware, so I feel like I'm going into this process slightly blind.
