I have had another EBUS 2 weeks ago and the results again are inconclusive

I had an EBUS in 2014, it was inconclusive, I had a Mediastinoscopy which caused  a 200ml bleed, hypertension and incubation and a 24 hour stay in icu, I have had another EBUS 2 weeks ago and the results again are inconclusive, a further Mediastinoscopy was mentioned in MDT. I have refused this test as I have had a heart attack and bypass surgery. I feel that nobody is interested or cares. I have been made to feel like an awful patient refusing treatment. Nobody is listening to me or my concerns

  • Hello Cancersufferer

I'm so sorry to hear about the complications that you experienced following your previous mediastinoscopy. It sounds like it was a really difficult time, and I can understand why you have refused this test, particularly as you've since had further health complications.

It's sad to hear that, as a result of declining this procedure, you feel that nobody is interested or cares. I'd really encourage you to feed back this information to the hospital PALS department. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our team of nurses as well. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

I do hope that you're able to get some answers soon about the health issues that you're experiencing. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
