Swollen armpit and 2cm lump - freaking out

Hi, I'm not sure why I'm posting this other than to see if anyone else has had similar and a positive outcome? I noticed a visible swelling in my right armpit a week ago - it felt puffy. I went to the gp on Tuesday and the GP felt a 2cm lump deep inside on the axilla and has put me on the 2 week pathway. She said it felt smooth but fixed. My appointment at the breast clinic is in 6 days. Since my GP appointment, the lymph nodes on the right of my neck have also swollen. I have lost 3kg in 5 days (although I've been so frightened I've barely eaten so thats probably not surprising!) and just feel generally fatigued and 'off colour'. I'm on hrt and not had periods for ages. I've made the mistake of googling and the fear and anxiety is literally consuming me...I don't know how I can wait another 6 days! Thanks for reading x

    Hi Skyebluebird,

    I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms. We usually advise people not to consult "Dr Google" while waiting to be seen. Much of the information is poorly researched, out of date and aimed at the more spectacular cases. This won't give you any answers and will only serve to scare you further. Try to keep yourself busy for the next 6 days. It is a fact that only 20% of those who attend the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis, so here's hoping that you'll be one of the lucky ones.     • Thank you so much for taking time to reply and your lovely message - it really means alot. You're right - I really regret using Dr Google, all its done is increase my anxiety. I'm so frightened that with my neck nodes being swollen as well now, they will tell me it's advanced and untreatable and how I would tell my children. I also feel guilty - I know there are so many in my position or worse. I will try to keep busy and will update when I have news. Thank you again for being so kind and I wish you all the best x

    Hi Skyebluebird,

    Unfortunately, our over active imaginations tend to take us to all sorts of dark places at this stage. Some people find jigsaws a good way to help pass the time. What family do you have? It is always difficult to break the news to them.
