Moles can sometimes disappear due to regression but it doesn't always mean it's then spread (even though it has the ability to). The next step may possibly be a scan to see if any of your lymph nodes 'light up' which would mean the regression has spread. They would then put a treatment plan in place. If the scan is clear, they may monitor you for a short time & scan again at a later date. These are just possibilities as some hospitals work differently (this is what my hospital would do).

Benign moles can also regress so it doesn't, on the face of it, mean your mole is melanoma. The thing to concentrate on is that, if the mole was malignant and it's regressed, it's your body's immune system that's doing it's job and attacking and destroying the malignant cells. So, it could be a benign mole that's regressed or it could be a malignant mole that's regressed due to your strong immune system - but they will still need to scan to ensure nothing has spread into your lymphatic system.
