I had a tongue biopsy over two weeks ago and have still got some pain and swelling. It’s not getting worse but doesn’t seem to be getting better. Is this normal?

Hi Terryb1961 and a warm welcome to our forum,
I am not sure whether this is still to be expected 2 weeks after your tongue biopsy and I am sorry to hear you are experiencing some pain swelling still and that it isn't getting better yet. I think it might be worth contacting your specialist or the oral surgery department where you had the biopsy and asking them whether this is to be expected and whether they have any tips to accelerate healing as I can imagine this has been uncomfortable for you.
Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 as they may have some further guidance for you on what to expect after a tongue biopsy - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
It might be helpful to talk to others on here who have had a tongue biopsy and I thought I would mention a few recent threads from other members who had one in recent months for example Violet-lake who posted this thread on tongue biopsy recovery. I hope that you will be able to connect with others on here who have been through something similar before and that they will share their experience with you.
Also keeping everything crossed for you that you won't have to wait long now for your results and that you get reassuring news,
Best wishes,
