Worried About Bowel Cancer

Hi everyone, first time poster!

Just wanting some experience from people who have been diagnosed or it's looking like it's going to be a diagnosis.

I've had toilet bowls of blood, fluctuations between bowel movements, mucus, pain in my coccyx, dizziness, a positive FIT test of over 200 and waiting for calproticin test to come back should he tomorrow hopefully but just wanting to know what I should expect now and if this is how you were diagnosed. I had a physical exam and no evidence of piles or fishers so they are worried it's higher up which could rule out IBD

Just want some sort of Information I'm so fed up of feeling poorly all the time

  • Hello Cb2310 and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear you have had these symptoms as well as a positive FIT test. You may have received your calprotectin results by now and I hope you will soon have a little bit more clarity as to what is causing these issues. It's good that you are having these investigations though and that they have also done a physical exam and I hope that you will find out more soon.

It must be exhausting for you to feel poorly like this all the time and it won't be long now until you get some definite answers and a diagnosis. While you are going through this anxious wait, I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news. We also have a nurse helpline you are welcome to ring for further information on the diagnosis process - you can call them on this free number 0808 800 4040 and the helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

There may be other members of our community who have been through the same in the past and I hope they will pop by and share their experience with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you get some clarity soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
