Hi
my husband is a puzzle. The doctor has said they need to be “detectives”. They’ve consulted I&D annd are doing test after test but everything is non conclusive! He’s had night sweats, fever, shivers, extreme fatigue in April/may, got better for a month, now again in July! They’ve X-ray his chest, ultrasound his abdomen & neck, PET scan. The first time we saw the haematologist he dismissed us as wasting his time as zero cancer marker concerns, but did blood tests anyway, after what he said would be the last round of bloods before he discharges him, my husband was called the next day by him to admit him as he was getting worse in his bloods from the first tests! Only thing that showed was “slightly” reactive lymph nodes near his heart. They dismissed those as not serious. His bloods for infection/liver are through the roof! He’s been admitted and had a bone marrow biopsy & echocardiogram yesterday. Now we have to wait a week for results. The doctors are back tracking, the lymph nodes they dismissed as fine, they now want to take biopsy’s from? He has zero markers for cancer in his blood work. I thought a reactive lymph just meant it was doing its job? Should it be concerning? They are currently liaising with I&D in Cambridge, as they really have no clue! Surely by now, with all the blood tests, if it was cancer or lymphoma something would have showed???
