Could I have ovarian cancer?

I'm getting pain in my lower left side of abdomen. Also getting lower back pain. This pain feels like I'm about to have my period but I know I'm not because I've had a hysterectomy 7 years ago. am ridiculously tired and just don't feel myself. I've been to doctors and they have done a full blood test on me. Dr said it could be ovarian cancer so we'll do bloods first and go from there. I've now had a call to say they want to talk to me further about my blood results. They said it's nothing serious.

I've looked on the NHS app and can see my ca-125 levels are fine but my serum ferritin levels are high and says to forward to accountable clinician....... could someone help me what this all means please?

  • Hello L-H-R and a big welcome to our forum,

You did the right thing to go to the doctor's when you experienced these symptoms and it's good that they did those blood tests. It's reassuring though that your CA-125 levels are fine and also that they have said to you on the phone that it is nothing serious. I hope that you find out more though as to what is causing these high serum ferritin levels. It might be worth trying to arrange to speak to your GP about this as they will be able to explain to you what these raised levels mean.

I hope that you will get some clarity on this soon and that it will all turn out to be nothing of concern. Other members of our community may have experienced similar symptoms themselves and had similar tests and I hope that they'll be along shortly and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
