Mammogram recall

Well I’ve been on here a few times in the past with thankfully nothing sinister

so off I trotted for my over 50s mammogram and for the first time in my life I had zero expectations that I would get a recall

and here we are

I go back on Wednesday for further tests but no idea what the problem is. Very nervous

I wish they would give more information than just leave you sat panicking for days / weeks on end

  • Hi Bubbles,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about your mammogram recall. More people are recalled after their first mammogram than any other. This is because there are no previous mammograms to compare the findings with. Sometimes the recall can be for something simple like not getting a clear enough image. I had a recall after one of my mammograms, but fortunately, they were happy with the repeat and I was discharged.

Several years on from that, I have now had 2 diagnoses of breast cancer within a year and had a lumpectomy, followed by a double mastectomy. It is now 16 years since I was diagnosed and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life. I hope that all turns out well for you on Wednesday. If not, I want to reassure you that, what lies ahead may be challenging, but it is all perfectly "doable". Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much Jolamine, I’m sorry you’ve been through so much but it’s fantastic to hear you are well now. It’s so worrying all of this x

  • Hi Bubbles,

Most of us would agree that this is one of the most worrying stages of our cancer journey. Irrespective of the results you'll feel better once you know the result of Wednesday's appointment.

I'm keeping everything crossed for you!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
