Blood now and then with bm

Hi everyone,

I've been having on and off bleeding for the last year, it always happens with a little scratchy feeling when the stool is coming out (sorry tmi)

Ive been back and forth to the doctors on a few occasions.. and each time they have given me some cream to put on and said it was likely and anul fissure.. it does clear it up but then a few weeks down the line it opens again.
the blood is quite severe sometimes and have blood on toilet paper and I the toilet bowl.

i have a 16 month old that is a big boy and I think carrying him around most of the day (clingy boy) makes it continue to bleed throughout the day.

But I have been reading that anul tears don't seem to bleed for long after the actual bm.

I have diagnosed myself with bowel cancer/anul cancer

I did have the dre at the doctors and she said she couldn't feel anything...

I'm honestly at a loss now and can't concentrate on daily tasks, to be honest I haven't be able to get out of bed the last two days, my husband has had to take a couple of days off of work to look after the children.

did anyone have the same issue as I'm describing and it turn out to be nothing sinister

thank you for reading xx

  • Hello Soscared89

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns and that you've recently been feeling very anxious about this.

Please do make another appointment to speak with your GP. Let them know just how worried you are.

It's important to remember that there could be many reasons, other than cancer,  for the bleeding you've been experiencing. It's a positive sign that things have improved during the period when you've been using the cream from the GP.

If it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you can get the reassurance you need and that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
