Really worried

Hello, well my husband has had cancer 3 times since 1996 hes has a lot of other medical issues and is in a wheelchair but in February he’s started losing weight and discomfort in his lower left side also I found blood in his underwear, we went to see a GP around 27th march and asked for a colonoscopy because in 2021 he had low grade displasia and they took at least 5 polyps so we thought his last one was in 2023 but it was 2021. The go examined him and said he couldn’t book a colonoscopy because the NHS wouldn’t let him I said but given my husband’s history and Red flags surely it warrants it. But he said the only thing he could offer is another stools tast we said it will come back negative all my husbands test have unless you can physically see the problem and it did it was negative. So at this point unfortunately his mum passed away and we dealt with that an he continued to lose more weight blood in stools and extreme tiredness behold the baselines for his diabetes most days he sleeps 18 hrs. So I had to complain to the GP surgery to get him seen on the 27th may he’s was seen because I said I was putting a complaint in given his Red flags and history. He saw the GP who examined him again he was in a lot of pain and she said she would refer him under the 2week pathway, however he got a referral letter to book what we thought was a colonoscopy but they wouldn’t book anything because he had a NEGATIVE stools test so it had to referred back to the GP I was extremely annoyed at this and then I said he needs to be referred immediately so we did get a phone call from a consultant at the hospital and I talked to her on my husband‘s behalf is not very good on the phone so she discussed the CT scan may be the better option because of it’s quite invasive so she booked that and he had it on the 23rd of June this year. Also I discussed with her that he had lost at this point now 25 lb in weight and also he’s had more blood loss and extreme tiredness and he’s in a wheelchair so she said let’s get this scan done and I will see him face-to-face so we waited two weeks heard nothing so I rang the hospital she said she couldn’t tell me the results over the form which I totally appreciate so I had to ring the doctor to get the results. He sent a text with the results saying your CT scan shows you have diverticulitis and gallstones. I told him that he was in a lot of pain so he prescribed naproxen. He told my husband to ring the hospital back to find out what they’re going to do In regards to further treatment or whatever you did say that it did show no signs of cancer my wife did a bit of check-in into this naproxen and apparently you shouldn’t take it if you’ve got active flareup With diverticulitis so The hospital has finally sent a letter online that the consultant is now going to ring him on the 24th of July to have a conversation with him. He’s really worried that this diverticulitis could be masking something because he’s still in a lot of pain. You already take MST and Oramorph and that does help obviously because it’s a strong painkiller but soon as it wears off in agony again but from the time he went to see the doctor on the 27th of May to get his results he had waited 40 days this is actually a breach in the NHS rules. This has to be sorted within 28 days and now he has to wait another two weeks I don’t know how he can carry on like this and I’m really worried because of his history and he did have chemotherapy as well in 2000 and also with that chemotherapy part of it was this was Cisplatin. he’s also had in 2007 a retroperitoneal lymph node dissection because the cancer came back that time and he wasn’t given any further treatment apart from the operation. With his complex medical history needs we really think that they’re not doing what they should. These are definitely red flags and I’ve actually weighed him again and he’s lost another 2 lb yes it might not be significant in some people but he’s in a wheelchair. How’s he losing weight because he’s eating but his last blood test that the consultant got the results for said it is iron is a bit low he’s never ever had a iron issues in his life so is it because he’s losing blood somewhere? We are really worried and we don’t know what to do. I’ve rung pals. They’ve not got back to me. We’ll just keep feel that we’re getting past from pillar to post  also given the fact that he had his last colonoscopy five years ago and with the fact they had dysplasia he should’ve been checked maybe two years after that I don’t know what the protocol is but he shouldn’t never have been left five years. Thanks for reading just need some advice please. We know you can’t give medical advice but what should we do?
