endoscopy and swallowing problems - has anyone else had this?

Has anyone had an endoscopy after radiotherapy which has caused swallowing problems 19 months after treatment still slightly painful when swallowing.

Already had two endoscopy but they couldn't get the camera down so didn't carry on with it. They thought it was too risky . I have lung cancer which was attached to my oesophagus it has been stable for 19 months. My doctor has referred me again to have the endoscopy done again and i am really worried that there could be complications .has anyone had this problem . I'm just worried sick about having it done this time .

  • I'm really sorry to hear about the issues you've been having since finishing your treatment, and for the worry this is causing with your upcoming endoscopy.

This must be very stressful but if you can, make sure you voice your concerns with the team that will be carrying out your procedure as I'm sure they will do all they can to accommodate and support you when having this done.

I hope some of our members will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice but if it'd help you can also talk to one of our cancer nurses about this on 0808 8000 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and address any other questions or concerns you may have at this time.

We're sending you all our support Nyladog and wishing you all the best with your endoscopy. We'll be thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.

    Kind regards,
