Should I worry

I have been feeling tired for some time now and over the last 8 weeks I've, lost 10kg in weight due to no appetite, nausea, stomach pains. I've been recently choking on my food and bringing back up even water at times like reflux my liver function has been raised, low iron, raised calcium levels had a fit test 6 months ago was raised, second had high calprotectin then had another which was normal now had another fit test this week which was raised, now gp has urgently referred me to collerecteral surgery for outpatient appointment which is Monday this week I am also getting a lot of leg pain should I be worried has anyone had anything similar?

  • Hi Shez30,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. My husband has had similar problems. He has recently had a gastroscopy, an endoscopy and a CT scan. All we heard after these procedures, was that there are nodules in both passages, but that they don't seem cancerous. They then discussed giving him a barium swallow test. Despite this, they took 9 biopsies and we are still waiting to hear the results of these.

His legs were also swollen and sore, but this was due to his heart failure (a problem he's had for 30 years) and he was placed on stronger diuretics for this. I sincerely hope that the Colorectal team can help you to find some answers. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi jolamine,

Thankyou for your reply it's not just me then, I attended the appointment they are now sending me for the camera both up and down and a ultrasound scan ov my stomach if nothing shows up then a CT scan so it seems that I will be going through the same steps as your husband.

I still cannot eat solid food and I am even choking on yogurt my throat is so sore it's making my voice go croaky and all I do is vomit.

I have lost another 7kg, I go on 18th July for the camera then 5th Aug for ultrasound,  hopefully I will find something out then.

please let me no how you get on with your results, everything is so long winded you must be so frustrated.

I hope all comes back well,  please keep in touch.

    Kind Regards

    Sheryl

  • Hi Sheryl,

I am glad to see that you don't have long to wait for your tests now and I hope that you get some answers from them. We received a letter about the flexible sigmoidoscopy and the endoscopy this week. It tells us that all nine biopsies taken showed no sign of cancer and diagnosed my hubby with Diverticulitis and Barrett's Oesophagus. He was then discharged back to the care of his GP. Although it is good news that there is no cancer present for now, this does nothing to solve his eating problem and we are finding this very frustrating.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
