Should i be concerned?

In July 2024 i went to the doctors after noticing a painless, moveable, swollen lymph node in my neck just above the supraclavicular area with no symptoms of illness. I had bloods done and everything was fine apart from a slightly elevated CRP of 15. I was advised to monitor it for 2 weeks for any changes, over time it would shrink and grow again and i would also get a node in my chin flare up. I advised the doctors of this but there were no concerns. I left it at that and have gone about my life but it is still present 2 years later. I had no concerns and had actually forgotten about it until this weekend when i drunk alcohol and got a horrible ache in my chest, it went away after about 30-60mins but the minute i had another drink it came back again. It felt like i had worked my chest at the gym nothing soothed the pain or made it worse other that the drink and it was an ache all across my chest. I do not have any other symptoms other than some dizziness occasionally and crackling in my right ear above the lymph node. I will likely make an appointment with my GP but i also want to know if this is something i should be concerned about? The GP last time told me if it hasn't grown i don't need to be worried so the fact it hasn't grown in 2 years makes me think its impossible to be anything sinister but its the pain drinking alcohol that has made me think maybe it could be serious and i shouldn't leave it. Thank you for reading.

  • Hi Tinkerbell99 and welcome to the forum.

It's good to hear your lymph node hasn't changed in size although I'm sorry for the worry you have about the pain you've been experiencing in your chest when drinking alcohol.

As it's been a while since you last went to the GP, there's no harm in getting your lymph node checked out again as they will be able to examine you and address your concerns about the chest pain.

I hope some of our members who have experienced something similar will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon but in the meantime, I'm sending you all my support and hope everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
