Possible lymphoma

I’m a 59 year old female and was admitted to a&e over 2 weeks ago with constant vomiting and severe left sided abdominal pain. I have diverticulitis so assumed was a dreadful flare up. They decided to do 2 dye Pet scans and scarily found the following:

enlarged lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy) in several areas, including:

• Left supraclavicular area (above the collarbone)
• Posterior mediastinum (behind the chest structures)
• Para-oesophageal (near the oesophagus)
• Para-aortic (alongside the aorta)

The vomiting stopped after a day and the pain has pretty much now gone. Have my neck biopsy tomorrow and results on the 6th. I’m trying not to Google, but people keep saying “oh it’s probably just an infection”. The wait is killing me but I am prepared for the worst. Any similar experiences would be greatly received

  • Welcome to the forum Tractor_girl although I'm so sorry to hear what happened 2 weeks ago. That must have been very scary.

Waiting for results is never easy but you're almost there now, so hang in there and remember that you are not alone.

I hope some of these tips we have on how to cope with waiting for news will help you over the next 5 days but I'm sure some of our members who have been through something similar will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

If it would help, we also have a team of cancer nurses you can talk to on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and support you whilst you wait.

My thoughts are with you Tractor_girl and I'm wishing you all the best for next week.

    Kind regards,
