10cm Adnexal mass in fallopian tube

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice from people who may have been through something similar.
I’m 41 and have 3 children and have struggled with heavy/painful periods for years. After a 12 month routine ultra sound scan on 5th June, i was called later that day to say a 10cm complex cyst had been found on my right ovary graded 5 and i needed further tests to rule out malignancy.

since then I’ve had blood done. CA-125 came back elevated at 239 and was told all other tumour markers were normal. My mri has also shown that the complex cyst is actually showing as a Adnexal mass that is on my fallopian tube. My MDT meeting has been pushed back from Monday this week (15th June) to Wednesday so specialists consultants can review my results. I now also need a CT scan.
I have also endometriosis, kissing ovaries and smaller Endometrioma cyst on my ovaries.
I’m literally worried sick that I have cancer. I’m going through a lot at the minute.. my little girl has a terminal illness (not cancer related) and my dad has stage 4 prostate cancer. I also lost my mum to cancer when she was 35, so it’s a massive fear of mine.

I’m just angry that I’ve been pushing my doctor to get a scan for heavy periods and feel like I’ve been fobbed off, when I could have found this months ago. I don’t feel like I’ve had any other symptoms other that a little bit of pain around my periods, but now I seem to be over thinking cancer symptoms.

Any help or similar stories would be really appreciated x

  • Hi mvl2006, welcome to the forum, though I am sorry for what has brought you here.

What you are carrying right now, the worry about your own health on top of everything you are already going through with your daughter and your dad, is an enormous amount for one person.

Your anger about feeling dismissed by your GP is completely understandable.

The wait is genuinely the hardest part, and one that many people here will recognise. Hopefully some of them will be along shortly to share their own experiences and offer support.

If you would like to talk things through with someone with a medical background in the meantime, our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. There is no pressure at all; you can simply ask questions and they will listen.

Please do keep us updated and know that everyone here is keeping everything crossed for you.

    Warm wishes,
