MRI contrast scan results - 3.2cm Liver Lesion

I was referred on fast track as urology found a 3.2cm lesion on liver.  I had my MRI scan on 31 May and was told I would hear soon and to contact gastro in a week.  I contact them today to be told they haven’t received the report.  I contact radiology and the report hasn’t even been written. I am going out of my mind why is it taking so long.  Anybody else experienced this thank you

  • Hello Summergirl74,

I'm sorry to hear this has taken longer than expected but do keep chasing for updates. In the meantime, it's important to look after your wellbeing. When youre worried that you may have cancer, it's natural to overthink and want answers quickly, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. We have information around coping with waiting for news on our website, which could be useful in some way.

I hope that the report is done and that you hear from back from them soon.

  • Hi Summergirl, I hope that you hear your results soon, it is always such a worry when you are waiting and worrying.

2 years ago, I was in the same place as you. A large liver lesion was found during an ultrasound, fast tracked through CT scan & then MRI scan, the doctors still couldn't tell if it was benign or malignant, so I had to have it removed due to the size (10cm x 6cm).

However the good news was that it turned out to be a benign adenoma, so don't lose hope, lots of liver lesions turn out to be benign.

Hope that it all turns out well for you.

    Annie
