Swollen in armpit etc

Hi I’m new here and I have been to the doctor today they got me in for an appointment. I originally went up there today to show / tell the doctor of my findings which were a lump on the top of my left breast above  the nipple area and pain around the breast and nipple area and in the nipple type where  but deep in the breast (I can’t explain well what I mean sorry ) :( . And pain and swollen in my arm pit like a bulge area .

i had seen ta doctor in 2018 with a swollen arm pit bulgy area and they checked it a nurse and the doctor and nothing was found . Years down the line I still got it . So I originally went for these things and when my doctor was examining me she had found another lump which I was well unaware of .
I am due on in around 2 weeks is it possible it could be linked to this .
she has referred me under the 2 weeks suspected breast cancer

she said I will have a scan or a couple of scans .
I am feeling scared and empty I haven’t really cried shown anything as of yet . When the doctor told me there was a lump I was not aware of this one so it was new for me .

I am just waiting on that call to have my appointment..

is anyone in the same situation ?? I just think maybe it’s a cyst or a absess or nothing .

  • Hi a380inthe sky,

A very warm welcome to the forum,

I am sorry to hear of your worries.

Scary as it is, you have done the right thing to get this investigated. It is impossible to be sure what this is, until you have some tests - usually a mammogram, an ultrasound and a biopsy. The first two tests indicate any changes in breast tissue but only the biopsy can really determine whether this is cancer or not. If you have a biopsy, you may have to wait another 1-2 weeks to get the results.

Try not to overthink things while you're waiting. Not all lumps are cancerous - many turn out to be benign cysts or fibroadenoma. It is also a fact that, of all those who attend the breast clinic, only 20% will get a cancer diagnosis. Your appointment will usually come through within 2 weeks from the date of referral, although in busier clinics, the actual appointment may take a little longer.

I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

      Kind regards,

      Jolamine xx
