Call back 24 hours after mammogram

Hi everyone. I was referred by my GP to the breast clinic with intermittent breast pain and an inverted nipple. I had my mammogram yesterday, afterwards I was told I'd receive the results and a follow up appointment in a week or two. They phoned me this morning to ask me to come back in Wednesday to see a consultant. 

Just wondering what other people's experiences were as in my experience asking me to come back so quickly usually means they have seen something and want to investigate.

    It's good that things are moving fast so that you get answers soon and I hope that it won't be too long now until you receive your results. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your appointment on Wednesday and if you don't mind, do come back and let us know what you find out. 

    Try not to draw any conclusions though as to why you were asked to come back so quickly as it doesn't necessarily mean anything in particular but I hope that you will hear from the experiences of other members of our community who have been in your position before and that they will share their story with you. 

    We also have a free nurse helpline you are welcome to ring on this free number 0808 800 4040 if there is anything you would like to ask them or discuss. It is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    A very warm welcome to the forum.

    I am sorry to hear that you've been recalled so quickly. Many of us worry when this happens so fast, but as our moderator Lucie, says, it is usually of little significance. It can be due to something simple like the fact that they have just had a cancellation. Most of us have to wait for appointments and the longer the wait is, the more anxious we become. It is good that you don't have long to wait.

    I sincerely hope that nothing untoward has been found. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
