Breast dimple

Help!!
I’ve just noticed when i lift my right arm up, a dent appears in my right boob.
I can’t feel a lump or notice any other symptoms
I’ve got an appointment with GP tomorrow.
bur really scared & worried about it.

  • Best of luck, I've only ever had the lump experience, but each possible symptom is no less scary than another.

I saw my GP two days ago for a huge lump in my left breast. I'm currently on the cancellation list as my clinic is over referred and my booked appointment is 11 days after the 2 week deadline. This is my second time going through this process, fortunately last time was just cysts.

Just remember to be patient with yourself, waiting for answers can be scary.

I gather this is your first experience?

Happy to tell you what my experience was of the process if you think it would help?

It's perfectly reasonable to feel anxious.

  • Ive got the same, my appointment isnt til friday.

Please let us know how you get on.

I wish you all the best

  • Thankyou, appreciate it. You also!

  • So I had my GP appointment today. He’s put me on the 2 week referral to hospital clinic,

as he could feel a thickening in the breast tissue on the right side, he did say could be down to menstrual cycle, but sent referral anyway.
but on his notes he wrote lump?
    is this the same thing?

  • Hi Winhay2,

I'm glad to hear that your GP has done this, as this is the best way to ensure that you get an accurate diagnosis. It's hard to say why your GP has written lump. Perhaps he felt one area of thickened skin more like a lump? Don't let this upset you. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts or fibroadenoma. It is also a fact that, of all the people who attend the breast clinic, only 20% will get a cancer diagnosis.

Many people expect to be seen within 2 weeks, when they are referred under the 2-week pathway, but this doesn't always happen. You should certainly receive an appointment within 2 weeks from the date of referral, but, in busy areas, the actual appointment may be longer than this.

Let's hope that your GP is right and that this turns out to be as a result of your menstrual cycle! Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
