What to do now - anxiously waiting for husband's test results. How will I cope if he needs treatment? We have no outside support

Am classified as T2N0M0 Bowel Cancer and now in the five year testing regime. Still struggling a bit with the Ileostomy.

My problem now, which is wearing me down, is the recent colonoscopy results for my 80 year old husband.  The Consultant did not seem as confident as he was with me.  Waiting for histology and CT,/MRI Appointments.

As a worrier.  It is affecting me.  Dont want to eat.

In the worst case scenerio how will I manage especially if he needs chemo.  The hospital is over an hour away.  How will I cope with whole days in the hospital while he has chemo and a sick husband.    We have no family/friends who can help.

  • Hi and I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I know it feels overwhelming but there is support available for you. First of all, please take a look at this page - https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/supporting-someone - which lists help you can get in your situation. Also https://www.carersuk.org/ has help available for those caring for others. These places offer practical and emotional support, so you don't have to deal with this alone. Please take care of yourself too. You need to eat properly to keep up your strength. I understand that you're finding that difficult at the moment, but please don't neglect your own health. We're here on this forum to help too, so please let us know what help you need, so we can direct you to the right places. Don't forget to rest and be kind to yourself. Gill xx
