Suspected breast cancer

Hi,

I had hoped never to be here again. I found a lump in my ‘breast’ 2 weeks ago and my GP has fast tracked as suspected cancer. I used quote marks because I had a mastectomy 13 years ago following a dcis diagnosis, so my ‘breast’ is a reconstruction. I went to the doctors at the weekend hoping they would say it was nothing to worry about but the referral on the NHS app says I should hear in 2 days about a follow up appointment at the breast clinic. I am grateful that they plan to see me so quickly but the speed makes me even more fearful. I haven’t told my husband yet. He is putting my stress down to a difficult situation at work. Feeling scared and alone.

  • I'm so sorry you've been fast tracked on the cancer pathway due to the lump you've found in your breast.

Having to go through this all again must be very nerve-wracking but our members are here for you firedragon and we're sending you all our strength and support.

Hopefully some of our members will stop by soon to offer their support and advice but if it would help to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very understanding and will do all they can to help you at this very challenging time.

In the meantime, I'm wishing you all the best with your appointment and will have my fingers crossed for a good outcome.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
