Several hard swollen nodes

Hello

first time posting,  Long time lurker and increasingly worrying symptoms. I have another follow up appointment with my GP tommorow and I really do not know how to explain my worries.

My node directly in front of my left ear (just near temple) has been hard and growing for many months. As has the node behind my left ear, the glands in the left side of my neck and also there are several rubbery hard “lumps” when I feel around the crease between my left thigh and groin.

Ive had increasingly worse sharp headaches only on the left side.

Almost constant left sided hip, pelvis pain that is so much worse at night and when I lay on that side

upper left tummy pain under ribs which comes and goes.

slightly abnormal connective tissue disease screening (1.2). No signs of an autoimmune disorder or infection.

full blood count “satisfactory” - Red and white blood cell slightly below reference limit.

I am not sleeping due to the pain and I just feel unwell. I’m 30 years old. Female. The doctor has suggested chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia twice, yet I do not meet the wide spread pain etc. and surely my lymph nodes would not be swelling the way they are on one side. Rheumatologist said also that these symptoms do not warrant an autoimmune disorder investigation.

has anyone had similar symptoms please and any advice on how to talk to the doctor? Maybe I am just trying to make sense of the different symptoms, but something really doesn’t feel right.

thank you so much.

  • Hi Bee and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm so sorry no-one was able to get back to you before you had your appointment but I hope it went well and you were able to express your concerns to your GP.

I hope these tips we have on how to talk to your doctor will help you in the future but if you would like to discuss anything that was mentioned or brought up during your appointment that you're still worried about, you can give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. The helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to put your mind at ease and answer any other questions you may have at this time.

Now that I've replied, hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will stop by soon to offer their support and advice.

Our thoughts are with you Bee and we'll have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hello. Thank you so much for your reply. I’ve been referred to the 2 week wait service and am now waiting for my first phone call. I also have a chest xray today ordered by my doctor. I’ve dropped more weight over the last few days and I’m feeling more unwell. I’m going easy on myself until I get some answers as I just haven’t felt this sick since I can remember. I really appreciate your very kind words and it has given me a boost. Thank you again - Bee x
