swollen neck lymph nodes

Hi everyone after feeling distressed for the past 6 to 7 months and reading different post on this forum I finally decided to make my own and see if any of you would be able to help me in December last year. I noticed two swollen lymph nodes And the left side of my neck one is in the middle of my neck and one is right above the bone. Googling it, we all know if you have lymph nodes and specially ones that are swollen above collarbone is a bad sign. I made my GP refer me to the cancer clinic. On my ultrasound they realise that my lymph nodes are okay although enlarged less than 1 cm however I had a unilateral tonsil on the same side. I had a tonsillectomy and histology results seemed ok. My head and neck MRI also showed nothing sinister. However, fast forward post tonsillectomy, I still have the same nodes I had seven months ago. In fact, I think one of them is even bigger. I have another symptom and that is I feel a pain on my left side of the neck. I also have an ear pain on the same side, which is very inconsistent. When I do the valvar manoeuvre my ear makes this weird noise. Which makes me think my ear ear is full. The pain on the same side of the neck has been annoying me so much and makes me think that there is absolutely something wrong with me. On the other hand, I am hopeful that there is a problem with my ear and it’s causing whatever that is happening to me. I also have this other feeling that it’s lymphoma. And it’s a downward spiral of helplessness. Has anyone had something similar and can someone help please?

  • Hello panahis

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns over the last few months. It's good to hear that you've had some investigations (ultrasound and MRI) and that nothing of immediate concern was picked up.

It's not uncommon for lymph nodes to sometimes remain swollen, but given that you're still feeling anxious, and you now have a problem with your ear as well, it would seem sensible to get this checked by your GP. They will be best placed to arrange any tests or referrals that may be necessary. You might also want to talk about how much these symptoms have been worrying you and how they've left you feeling quite helpless. Hopefully, they can give you some reassurance and advice about managing the anxiety you're feeling regarding your health.

I do hope you can get the answers and reassurance you need soon.

    Best wishes,
