Mole removal after a picture

Hi everyone!

I have been reading through this forum and I’m wondering if anyone could help me put my mind at rest.
im a 28 year old female with a mole that has grown, changed shape and colour it is now a dark brown nearly black just located at the top of my arm pit

I’ve been to a dermatologist clinic and they took pictures and told me there was a few vessels and veins under it.
I’m having it removed next Monday 27th and sent for urgent biopsies.
I am just wondering if anyone’s experienced anything similar and if their outcome was good news or bad news?
I also find the same arm pit aches quite often…

any help is help for me. Thankyou x

  • Welcome to the forum Kphammer although I'm sorry to hear about the changes in your mole and for the worry this is causing.

Although we can't give an opinion on this I want to reassure you that you did the right thing by getting this checked out and fingers crossed the biopsy results will bring good news when the time comes.

Hopefully some of our members who have contended with suspicious moles will share their experiences with you soon but if it would help to discuss your concerns with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to help.

In the meantime, we're sending you all our support Kphammer and wishing you all the best with your mole removal next week.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi,

Sadly you can't compare your mole to anyone else's as everyone's situations are different. One person may have a mole that sounds like yours & it turns out to be benign or dysplastic (aka atypical or precancerous) whilst another person may have a mole that matches yours in every respect and is melanoma. The only way you can know is by having it removed & biopsied. 75% of patient's moles are found to be benign or atypical so the odds that yours will be fine are high, however don't be shocked if the results are melanoma. The good thing is that you are having it removed so it will no longer be a worry. If it's melanoma, it will hopefully have been caught in it's early stage & can be treated easily with surgery alone.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
