  • Hi Crazygirk,

We both started this journey at the same time - in 2010. I am 77 years old and lost my mum to metastases after a 12 year battle with breast cancer. It spread to her liver, lungs, brain and bone. That was 28 years ago and she had a horrific experience with the disease. Fortunately, cancer diagnosis, treatment and after care have all advanced tremendously in the interim. I was first diagnosed with stage 1, pure mucinous cancer, which is one of the less aggressive types of the disease. I was informed that, because of this, it was less likely to spread than other forms. i had a lumpectomy. Within 6 months after surgery, I discovered a lump in my other breast. My surgeon suspected that this was a new cancer, but fortunately it was classified as pre-cancer.

Almost a year to the day of my first operation, I discovered another lump in my original breast. I wasn't so fortunate this time as it was a second cancer. I had  double mastectomy for this bout. The difference between my mum's experience and mine were like chalk and cheese. I was amazed by how much methods had changed. They found a cyst on my ovaries too, but decided not to interfere with it and I have had no bother with it in the last 16 years.

It is worrying having to go through all of these additional tests, but it is reassuring that your consultant is being so thorough. It is good to hear that your cancer markers for ovarian cancer are normal. Here's hoping that you will have a similar result to mine and can relax after you find out. I am glad to hear that your ultrasound scan is tomorrow. Waiting for these procedures and results is always one of the worst times of our cancer journey.

Please stay in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for reply I can’t sleep tonight as all they said on the phone call was they found some pelvic cyst no

  • Many of us have sleepless nights while waiting for results. Have you tried listening to some soothing music and having a hot milky drink? Hopefully you will return to normal sleep pattern once you find out.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
