CA125 result of 46

I’m 47, had blood results back today: CA125 score of 46 and  SeCA 19-9 score of 39 - are these high? The doctor also informed me I tested positive for H.pylori and prescribed medication. I’m terrified I may have ovarian and pancreatic/stomach cancer. Can anyone suggest anything?

  • Hello ELB

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns. It's good to know that you've already seen your GP and some initial tests have been carried out.

It's important to remember that a CA125 result and a SeCA 19-9 score can both be raised for reasons other than a cancer diagnosis, so try not to worry too much. Hopefully the medication that your GP has prescribed will help improve things for you and I presume that your GP is either arranging to follow up with you directly or has referred you for further investigations? Hopefully you will have an update and some reassurance soon.

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

I hope things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
