Ultrasound scan of breast found 4 lesions, they wasn’t worried about 3 but one has been biopsied. Should I be worried?

I noticed a small lump and went to gp she said it felt cystic and mobile, put me in the 2 week pathway. Went today they examined me, gave me a mammogram and ultrasound. Th found 3 further lesions, they gave me biopsy on the known lump and lymph nodes, went back to see the consultant and he said the other 3 were fine but the original one looked suspicious and I have to wait for an appt in 2 weeks - I’m frightened really frightened - does this mean cancer

  • Hi Cazzytwenty,

You did the right thing to go to the GP when you noticed that small lump and it's good that you were seen quickly.

How stressful it must have been for you to be told that one of the lesions looked suspicious and you now find yourself going through another waiting game. 2 weeks can indeed feel like a lifetime and it's normal to feel really frightened in a situation like yours as you are waiting to get those important results. I know it's really hard but try not to anticipate too much what it might be - the word 'suspicious' doesn't necessarily mean that it will be cancer but that they wanted to have a closer look at that lesion.

The biopsy will be the best way to determine what it is exactly and I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing of concern. While you are waiting, I thought I would share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

    Best wishes,
