Confused by it all - have had tests for suspected testicular cancer but urgent CT scan was only on my chest. What are they checking for?

I had pain in upper stomach,  coughing blood and thought I could feel a lump on my testicle, I went to GP on Monday, and after physical observation they agreed with there being a lump on my testicle and said that my right groin lymph node are palpable, they referred me to urologist, for suspected testicular cancer and sent me for bloods (Tuesday)and x-ray (Monday)which I did, the urologist then sent me for an ultrasound, which I got done (Thursday) then they rang me Friday morning first thing and said you need to come in for urgent CT scan today, which I went for on Friday, but it was only for chest CT scan. What could be they be checking for, if the scan was only chest? I thought they'd follow the testicular cancer route but now I'm confused? Won't hear back until next week at least now

  • Hello HappyFighter and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can understand that all the tests might feel confusing, but given your symptoms, including the coughing, your GP would want to make sure everything is investigated. I hope you'll get an update soon and in the meantime it might help to focus away from your symptoms for the moment until you know more. It can be overthink sometimes and this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. There is some useful advice on our website around how to cope with waiting for news, which you can refer to at anytime.

I hope this helps and let us know how things go.
