Hi I am after a little advice, maybe from someone who has experienced this?
Last August I noticed a couple of small white pimple like spots on my nipple, when I was investigating I noticed discharge. This discharge was a pale yellow/straw coloured discharge that appeared when I squeezed my breast and I later found out it was leaking sporadically through the day on its own. This happened from only one nipple, my left.
I contacted my GP who looked and referred me to the breast clinic. I saw them in September, she believed it was some sort of trauma I must have experienced to my nipple that should stop after 6-8 weeks ( I hadn't experienced any kind of trauma that I could think of)
My next appointment arrived in December, I was still.experiencing the discharge but by now I was getting really concerned and worried that it was still going on. The doctor I seen was different, he looked and said my options were to leave it alone or remove it and I was to think about it. I said I was scared because I have multiple X multiple Fibroadenomas in my breast (I refer to my breast as bags of marbles.... ) previous ultrasound scans, the nurse has said it's difficult to see my actual breast tissue because of all the fibroadenomas, as there are so many. So I told my consultant my fear is I have developed a cancerous lump that can't be seen because of all the fibroadenomas. His responses 1 in 7 women WILL get cancer. He said I'm sure you know 7 women in your family? One of them will get van er, it could even be you...........not going to lie this knocked me for 7 and it hung over my head all over Xmas and New Year.
I have just recently had an appointment to check again. The discharge is still there, it happens every day without fail. The consultant who saw me this time suggested it's probably better and safer to remove it, they will try to find the exact duct that is causing the discharge and remove that, if they can't find the exact one I think they said they will remove the whole duct plus about 2 cm of tissue from behind the nipple to test.
I have just seen on my waiting list app I am waiting to be booked in for "Total excision of lactiferous duct" BUT something has also come up on the news today about ductal carcinoma in situ......could this be what I have?
So the reason for my post other than using it as a bit of a release to get everything out...
Has anyone else experienced this? What was your outcome?
Has anyone ever been told this was cancerous after surgery and then had to go through any treatment?
Could this be the ductal carcinoma??
Other things I have noticed regarding my nipple is it can sometimes be itchy, it sometimes feels like I can feel the discharge coming out, like I can feel it open (sorry I don't know how else to explain it...)
Please get in touch, I would love to hear some other views xxx
