Found A Lump

Hiya

i am 26 after giving birth to my daughter last year i went back onto the mini pill recently came off it about 3 weeks ago, a couple of months ago i had my 6 month postnatal check up mentioned that i felt like my left nipple looked a bit different she disagreed felt my breast for lumps said all is fine, nipple now doesn’t look any different but last week i felt a lump just above my nipple kind of hard to find it but when i do it’s round, hard and hard to move, see the gp today she can feel it she said she isn’t worried but it’s routine to get it checked she also said it’s moveable but to me it doesn’t really feel it, after the appointment i got an urgent suspected cancer appointment which has freaked me out i looked up the doctors notes she’s mentioned that it’s 2cm, hard, adhered to superficial tissue, that sounds worrying? could this lump be because of coming off the mini pill? why didn’t the previous doctor find this lump? sorry just would like so advise, ultrasound is booked for next week

  • Hi LouiseMay_xxx,

You did well to get this lump checked and it's reassuring that the GP didn't seem concerned but that they are being thorough in their investigations. It can be a little bit unsettling to be given an urgent appointment but it's important to remember that getting an urgent suspected cancer referral doesn't necessarily mean at all that it is cancer but it does mean that you will be seen sooner which is a good thing so that you can hopefully get clarity soon.

I am not sure what the doctor notes might mean but it won't be too long now until you get to see a specialist and get some definite answers. There will be other members of our community who will have been through something similar and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experiences with you. Luckily you won't have to wait long now for your ultrasound and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it will all turn out to be nothing of concern. It will be good for you to finally have some reassurance and answers.

Waiting for results is not easy and it can be a time of great anxiety. Try if you can not to anticipate what it might be or to look things up online and to help you cope during this time of great uncertainty, I will share with you our helpful tips on how to cope while waiting for important news

I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine.

    Best wishes,
