Confused worried - husband's yearly diabetic blood screening showed something wasn't right. Now he's on the 2 week pathway. This is all happening so fast

Hi

i am really just needing to get this written down, my husband is 77 he is a type 2 diabetic during his yearly diabetic blood screening something wasn’t right, we actually went to gp to talk about his arthritis in his knee.

The d4 said she didn’t want to talk about that today and we needed to talk about the blood results, she asked a few questions had a feel of his tummy, she asked to repeat the blood test and a stool sample she wanted to make sure he isn’t bleeding anywhere.

that all came back fine so now a CT scan with dye and a liver scan, it’s the speed of how this is moving that’s got me rattled the CT appointment came 2 days after he was with the GP that will be done on the the 2nd of April, then today an appointment arrived for the liver scan apparently looking to see if he has a stiff liver, I am honestly a bit frantic I have worked in social care all my life I am aware of the 2 week pathway where cancer is suspected I wish the doctor would be clear about what she is thinking

  • Welcome to the forum Mollydog21, although I'm sorry to hear about the tests your husband is currently having.

Our members know how scary this time can be, especially when everything is moving so quickly, so you are not alone and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from our community soon.

Waiting for news is always difficult so if it would help to talk things through with someone then you're welcome to give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to address your concerns and support you during this anxious wait.

In the meantime, we're wishing your husband all the best with his CT scan next week, and then his liver scan. We'll have our fingers crossed nothing sinister is found on either of them.

    Kind regards,
