Weird throat, bitter taste and tongue sensation

Since January ive had a strange sensation in my throat, initially it started like the base of my tongue, throat was itchy, very odd, just thought it was a virus, fast forward 9 weeks, ive had a swab, antibiotics and was referred to ENT, they looked in my throat and did a tube down my nose and was quite dismissive as to why I was referred as its clearly not cancer. This is all left sided, ive got intermittent swollen tongue, numbness throughout the left side, weird ache under my tongue like where tje salivary glands are. Ive noticed that under my left tonsil looks like a weird bubbly growth, ENT didnt seem too bothered. Its literally affecting my life. My dental health is good and im due to go there next week. I seriously have no idea, its just the left side of my mouth. Anyone had anything similar

  • Hello Sarcasticalpaca

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing concerns about your throat and tongue over the last 2 months. It sounds like it's been quite frustrating for you.

It's good to know that you've already seen an ENT specialist and that nothing of immediate concern was identified. Hopefully, your dentist may be able to give you some further reassurance next week when you see them, but if they have concerns about anything they see, they will be able to refer you back to the hospital.

If you think it might help to chat with one of our nurses, you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you can get some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
