Neck Lymph Node

Hi everyone,

Today i was put on a 2 week pathway for an ultrasound. Over the last 11 months I have had a sore throat, jut before my tonsils more on the roof of my mouth and it hurts to swallow in and off, my tonsils swell and I then struggle to swallow. Especially on the left, my lymph node is also swollen on the left and has been for the last 6 months, before this i cant really remember it going up and down, but now its not gone down, its a hard lump around 2 finger widths, its not moveable just below the edge of my jaw nearest my ear. (Near where you'd take your pulse) it can be tender when my thoat and mouth start hurting but then its just there.

The dr think its could be cancer of a sort as my inflammation markers are also always raised for the last few years consistently. I do have a few auto immune issues

Has anyone else had this?

  • Hey, ive gone through something similar and just been diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma. The ultrasound is a big help xx

  • Thank you for replying, ive had 8 sore throats since April last year, one hospital admission at the start and ive had enough. Ive had to battle today to see someone as they said just go to the pharmacy. I am worried over it. My lymph node is hard and doesn't move. Its just worrying.

I'm sorry about your diagnosis, how are you doing x

  • I know how worrying it is, i knew something wasnt right but kept being told it was probably a virus. My neck lump appeared in november.

Im actualy doing okaii thank you. Worried about the operation, but glad its treatable and we have a plan xx

  • Over the last few years ive had a few really random things happen like vasculitis and ive lived in chronic inflammation since the neck lump has been here over 6 months for definate but im not sure if its been longer or if its come and gone. Its scary when you just want to know if it is or isn't. I'm glad you're ok, im sure the operation will go well and I am glad its treatable. It's good you have a plan too x
