Constant breast pain

Hello everyone I’m here just for some reassurance / clarification I’m not going crazy.

for years on and off always had pain in my right boob, would normally come around period time, however since November 25 I’ve had constant pain, it moves, sometimes near nipples sometimes under armpit, sometimes above ribs, I’ve starting to feel a pull in my neck as well. Some days will be fine ish, then bad in evening , some days pain is 24/7, the best way to describe the pain is “ a heavy feeling” sometimes of nipple feels slightly itchy, there is no real routine to it.

i have been to doctors more times then i can count for, had numerous examinations and an ultra scan to be told it’s probably muscular  related I feel like because I’m young and ultra scan was clear I’m not being taken seriously .

I have  awful health anxiety since having my little boy during lockdown, and this breast pain is consuming me. I struggle to believe I can have it every day and it not be sinister.
please help.

  • Hello M.dan1996

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with ongoing breast pain. IT sounds like it's become quite an issue for you.

It's good to know that you've already seen your GP and that examinations and an ultrasound haven't given any immediate cause for concern.

Typically, breast cancer is not associated with pain, but that's not to say that you shouldn't make another appointment to see your GP. There can be many causes for the pain that you're struggling with, including perhaps hormone-related or, as previously suggested, muscular pain. The point is that this pain is consuming you, and you need some support to improve things.

If it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. There's also some helpful information on the NHS website about breast pain and managing health anxiety

I hope that you can get the support you need to improve things soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
